What are the Gene Keys?

The Gene Keys are the teachings of Richard Rudd, a student of Ra Uru Hu (the founder of Human Design) who was one of the people who helped set up the first Human Design school in the UK.

The Gene Keys were developed by Richard in the 2000s and they are a kind of sister system to Human Design. The Gene Keys, just like the Gates in Human Design, are based on the 64 archetypes from the Chinese I Ching (meaning The Book of Changes, an ancient text).

One could say that the Gene Keys are 64 types of consciousness, and each Gene Key has a shadow, a gift, and a siddhi (highest essence). The Gene Keys teaches us that we each have a hidden higher purpose, our genius, that’s part of our DNA and it is trough doing the shadow work that we can unlock our gifts and create prosperity.

So what’s the difference between the Gene Keys and the gates in Human Design you might ask? Well, in my opinion, the Gene Keys add so much more depth and nuance to the meaning of these archetypes in a very poetic way. It adds another layer, not just through the keys themselves, but also the Profile lines gets a deeper meaning compared to Human Design.

By looking at specific gene keys and their placements in our individual charts, we see patterns and clues as to who we came here to be.
